Yury Dolzhenko Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how Yury Dolzhenko (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles information in The Dad Journal mobile application (“App”).

Our design principle is simple: your journal content remains stored locally on your device. Separately, we use trusted service providers for crash reporting, anonymized analytics, and subscription management.

This policy is effective as of September 1, 2025

Last updated: September 15, 2025

Summary

  • Journal entries and photos stay on your device by default. We never see them.
  • We use Sentry for crash/error reporting.
  • We use TelemetryDeck for anonymized usage analytics.
  • We use RevenueCat to process subscription status (purchase receipts, app/device identifiers).
  • We don’t run ads, don’t sell data, and don’t track you across apps or websites.

Data we do not collect

We do not collect: your journal text, attached photos, precise location, contacts, address, or health data. No account registration is required to use the App.

On-device storage & permissions

To support features you choose, the App may request:

  • Photos/Storage — if you attach images
  • Notifications — if you enable reminders

Granting permissions allows the App to use that feature on your device only.

What we collect and why

  1. Crash Reporting — Sentry
  • Collected: app version, OS version, device model, stack trace at crash, minimal device state.

  • Purpose: diagnose and fix app crashes.

  • Identifiers: may include a random/resettable identifier (IDFV on iOS).

  • Retention: generally 90 days, per Sentry defaults.

  • Linked to you? No. Crash data does not include journal content.

  1. Usage Analytics — TelemetryDeck
  • Collected: screen views, feature usage events, performance metrics, app version, OS version, device type.

  • Purpose: understand which features are used, improve UX, guide development.

  • Identifiers: TelemetryDeck generates a privacy-preserving pseudonymous identifier (derived from a salted hash). This cannot be reversed into a personal identity.

  • Retention: anonymized/aggregated per TelemetryDeck defaults (short-term event retention, long-term aggregate storage).

  • Linked to you? No. No journal content, name, or email is ever included.

  1. Subscription Management — RevenueCat
  • Collected: app store purchase receipts, app version, platform (iOS/Android), and resettable device identifiers (e.g., iOS IDFV, Android App Instance ID).

  • Purpose: validate purchases and grant access to subscriptions (entitlements).

  • Identifiers: limited to store receipts and app/device identifiers.

  • Retention: for as long as needed to maintain active subscriptions.

Linked to you? No personal data like journal content, name, or email is included. RevenueCat processes receipts only for entitlement validation.

  1. When you contact us or subscribe outside the App

If you email us or sign up for a newsletter, we process the contact details you provide (e.g., name/email) only for that purpose. You can unsubscribe or request deletion anytime.

Backups & platform services

Your OS/cloud provider (e.g., iCloud or Google Drive) may back up App data if enabled in your device settings. These backups are managed by you and your platform provider, not by us.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. All journal content stays on device. Parents/guardians can delete App data locally or uninstall the App.

  • Crash reporting (Sentry): legitimate interests (maintaining app reliability).

  • Usage analytics (TelemetryDeck): legitimate interests (improving UX); consent where required by law.

  • Subscription validation (RevenueCat): contractual necessity (delivering purchases).

  • Emails/newsletters: consent or legitimate interests (responding to your request).

We are not a controller for your on-device journal entries, since we never receive them.

Sharing & transfers

We share limited data with our service providers only for the purposes above:

  • Sentry (crash reporting, servers may be in the EU/US)

  • TelemetryDeck (analytics, EU-hosted)

  • RevenueCat (subscription validation, US-hosted)

We do not sell data, do not share it for advertising, and do not enable cross-app tracking.

Security

Your journal content remains local. We use industry-standard safeguards with Sentry, TelemetryDeck, and RevenueCat. Still, no method is 100% secure — please keep your device protected with passcode/biometrics and up-to-date software.

Your rights

For data we process (diagnostics, analytics, subscriptions, contact info), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, withdraw consent, or request portability (depending on your jurisdiction). For journal data stored only on your device, you control it locally.

You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Cookies & tracking

  • In-App: no cookies, no ad SDKs, no cross-app tracking.

  • Website: may use essential or analytics cookies (see website cookie notice if applicable).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect App or legal changes. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above and highlight material updates.
